Entry-Level Red Team Analyst Job Analysis
Job Overview:
An Entry-Level Red Team Analyst supports penetration testing and reconnaissance efforts to identify vulnerabilities. They work under the guidance of senior team members and assist in executing simulated attacks to strengthen defenses.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconnaissance and Scanning:
Perform reconnaissance using OSINT tools to gather information about targets.Assist in vulnerability scanning and analyze findings.Basic Exploitation:
Conduct basic exploitation techniques to test system defenses.Document vulnerabilities and escalate complex issues to senior team members.Daily Tasks:
Perform scans to identify potential entry points for attacks.Research and test simple attack techniques.Assist in documenting vulnerabilities and drafting initial reports.Support the senior team in live simulations.Skills:
1. Computer Skills:
OSINT tools: Maltego, Shodan.Basic knowledge of vulnerability scanners: Nessus, OpenVAS.Scripting languages: Python or Bash.2. Language Skills:
Basic documentation skills for reporting findings.Clear communication to coordinate with team members.3. Job Technical (Functional) Skills:
Understanding of network protocols and basic exploitation.Knowledge of ethical hacking principles and frameworks.4. Interpersonal Skills:
Collaboration: Working closely with senior team members.Attention to Detail: Thoroughly documenting findings.Curiosity: Eager to learn advanced penetration testing techniques.Job Specifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field.Experience: 1–2 years in IT or cybersecurity internships.Certifications: CompTIA PenTest+, CEH (preferred).Performance Metrics:
Number of vulnerabilities identified.Quality and clarity of reports submitted.
Contribution to successful penetration testing exercises.
