ICT Manager Job Analysis
Job Overview:
The ICT Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and management of an organization’s IT infrastructure, systems, and communication networks. They are responsible for leading ICT teams, ensuring systems are secure and operational, and aligning technology with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic ICT Planning:
- Develop and implement the organization’s ICT strategy and policies.
- Plan for system upgrades, new technologies, and infrastructure growth.
IT Infrastructure and Network Management:
- Oversee the management of IT systems, servers, networks, and communication tools.
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of IT infrastructure.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and lead ICT teams, providing technical direction and guidance.
- Allocate resources effectively and manage team performance.
Cybersecurity and Compliance:
- Implement security protocols and risk management practices to protect IT systems.
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws and IT policies.
Vendor and Resource Management:
- Coordinate with vendors for IT hardware, software, and services procurement.
- Manage ICT budgets, cost controls, and contracts.
User Support and Training:
- Oversee IT helpdesk support to address user issues.
- Conduct training sessions to ensure staff proficiency with IT tools.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor ICT system performance and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Generate reports on ICT operations, budgets, and performance metrics.
Daily Tasks:
- Oversee the operations of IT support and technical teams.
- Monitor system performance, network traffic, and data security.
- Review and approve IT system upgrades or changes.
- Respond to high-priority IT incidents and escalations.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve IT challenges.
- Update IT policies and align systems with business needs.
Skills:
1. Computer Skills:
- IT Infrastructure: Windows Server, Linux, Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Network Management: Cisco networking, firewalls, VPNs, and DNS.
- Project Management Tools: JIRA, Microsoft Project, or Trello.
- Cybersecurity Tools: SIEM tools, firewalls, and encryption protocols.
2. Language Skills:
- Excellent written and spoken English for technical reports and management communication.
- Ability to explain complex IT solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
3. Job Technical (Functional) Skills:
- Strategic planning for IT infrastructure and business alignment.
- IT system implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Vendor management and IT procurement planning.
- Understanding of ITIL principles for service delivery and operations.
4. Interpersonal Skills:
- Leadership: Managing teams and motivating staff for performance.
- Communication: Collaborating with senior management, IT teams, and vendors.
- Problem-Solving: Identifying root causes of IT issues and implementing long-term fixes.
- Time Management: Prioritizing critical IT projects and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Job Specifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience: 5–8 years of experience in IT management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Certifications:
- ITIL Intermediate or PMP (Project Management Professional).
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Azure Administrator, or equivalent certifications.
Performance Metrics:
- System uptime and network availability percentages.
- IT incident response and resolution times.
- Compliance with cybersecurity and data protection standards.
- Budget adherence and cost efficiency in ICT operations.
Work Environment:
- Office-based, with occasional travel for on-site support or vendor management.
- Requires availability outside business hours for critical issues.
